VP OF PR / MARKETING FOR ALPHA CHI OMEGA

OVERVIEW:

As vice president of marketing for an organization whose philanthropic focus is domestic violence awareness, my responsibilities include creating relevant graphics and apparel, managing our social media and digital presence, and communicating with alumni through graphics.

GOAL:

Maintain the presence of our organization, ensure brand consistency, and effectively market our organization to alumni, potential new members, and others around campus.

CONSTRAINTS:

Maintain consistency, follow national guidelines when creating apparel and graphic, and communicating and representing and extremely large, diverse member group.

PROJECT #1 - SOCIAL MEDIA GRAPHICS

One of the parts of my job I enjoy the most is creating graphics for different philanthropy events; I love feeling that my work is making in impact for the different philanthropies we work with, and enjoy collaborating with members from different organizations, backgrounds, and fields. Below you can see various promotional graphics I have made to market our events!

PROJECT #2 - APPAREL

Given my background in graphic and apparel design, I love being able to create apparel to help promote our organization. I have created apparel for philanthropy events, parents weekends, sporting events, and many other types of on campus events.

PROJECT #3 - NEWSLETTER

Another major task was to create a newsletter to send our to alumni of Alpha Chi Omega at Michigan. This project helped me gain experience with layouts, and I learned new skills in Adobe Illustrator such as: placing a photo inside a space constraint (I designed a layout and then placed photos in the set spaces), and accessing fonts from Adobe TypeKit. I look forward to making my next newsletter and using the skills I have learned from this project.

OVERALL REFLECTION:

Working as the VP of PR and Marketing has taught me the challenges and importance of effectively marketing a large organization. With high stakes, this job has taught me about working under pressure, making decisions on the spot, and maintaining brand consistency. My time in this position has prepared me to be a designer who is comfortable with ambiguity, pressure, and time-constraints.
